The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery offers the full spectrum of cardiothoracic surgical services, including ventricular assist devices and heart and lung transplantation. Cardiothoracic surgeons perform advanced procedures including minimally invasive surgery and "off-pump bypass" heart procedures.

The cardiac and thoracic surgeons work with doctors in many areas, including cardiovascular diseases, pulmonary medicine, hematology/oncology and neurology, when caring for people who have cardiac and thoracic conditions. In most cases, your evaluation and scheduling of any needed surgery can be completed in two to three days. During hospitalization, you receive care in a cardiothoracic surgery unit and a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation center.
