Anyone can call directly for an appointment with a cardiovascular surgeon; a physician referral is not required. Most patients are first evaluated as outpatients. Appointment staff will help coordinate appointments and tests at Mayo and answer any questions.

Surgery, if needed, is scheduled as promptly as possible. Mayo surgeons are committed to meeting the needs of patients and their families.
