Proteomics and Bioinformatics

Genomics, Proteomics and Bioinformatics

To translate the new biology of patient care, Mayo Clinic researchers are actively exploring the intricate interconnections among these three fields of study. Genomic research studies how an individual's genes interact within the body and with the environment. Proteomics is the complementary discipline focusing on the study of proteins within cells. Both require bioinformatics, the use of mathematics to analyze data. Breakthroughs made through these analyses become treatment plans for individualized medicine.
