Clostridium Difficile Infection

Prevention

Studies indicate that preventive measures by caregivers play a crucial role in disease management of C. difficile:

  • Use antibiotics with discretion, in particular clindamycin or cephalosporins.
  • Routinely wash hands.
  • Disinfect potentially contaminated objects with chlorine-based hospital disinfectants.
  • Isolate infected patients.
  • Use gloves for patient contact.
