The breast imaging services staff offers years of experience and dedication to our patients. Our radiologists, mammographers and ultrasonographers are all specifically trained in breast imaging and work exclusively in breast imaging.

Research indicates that facilities where procedures are done frequently have better health outcomes for their patients. At Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, about 12,500 mammograms are done each year along with 2,200 breast ultrasounds and 600 image-guided breast biopsies.

Our Approach

The breast imaging services team provides same-day screening and diagnostic imaging to reduce anxiety and increase convenience for you. That means if a screening mammography leads to additional views or ultrasound scans, you won't need to return for separate appointments. There are many opportunities to talk to a physician, and you are kept informed every step of the way as screenings are completed. If the screening results call for diagnostic tests, we make every effort to complete all diagnostic scans in the same day. Biopsies may be done on the same day when your schedule and insurance allows. Physicians and health care professionals from the Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic and other specialty areas are called upon as needed.
