Women with a new diagnosis of breast cancer or who have a history of breast cancer with new concerns are seen in the Breast Cancer Clinic (BCC). The BCC physician provides counseling on breast-conserving therapy versus mastectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and other management options for breast cancer. A medical oncologist in BCC is available to discuss concerns about recurrent breast cancer, metastatic or locally advanced disease, and options regarding adjuvant or neoadjuvant therapy (hormone therapy, chemotherapy and radiation). BCC coordinates patient care with surgery, radiation oncology, plastic surgery, and genetics, depending upon the needs of the patient.
