Breast cancer

Stereotactic Breast Biopsy

In stereotactic breast biopsy, a radiologist guides a core (hollow) needle into the tumor or area of concern with the help of images from a mammogram. As many as 15 tissue samples, each about the thickness of a grain of rice, may be taken and analyzed for malignant (cancerous) cells.
