Bone Marrow Transplant

Treatment in Minnesota

Mayo Clinic in Rochester is one of the leading medical centers for bone marrow transplant (BMT) in the United States. In 2002, Mayo Clinic performed 239 BMTs on adults and children. Of these, 29 were allogeneic and 210 were autologous. Mayo Clinic in Rochester has performed more than 1,000 BMT procedures since it began offering this treatment in 1982.

Accreditation

Mayo's BMT Program has been recognized as an approved transplant center within the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) since 1988, and within the Children's Cancer Group (CCG) since 1990. In 1995, the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) accredited Mayo's BMT program to perform unrelated donor transplants. In 2005 the program was certified by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).
