Bone Marrow Transplant

Treatment in Florida

The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program of the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville has offered allogeneic and autologous bone marrow transplants since 1992. Our first peripheral blood stem cell transplant was performed in 1993. In 2002, our program joined the program at Nemours Children's Clinic and Wolfson Children's Hospital in Jacksonville to form a single program to treat children and adults with certain cancers and blood disorders.

Accreditation

The Mayo Clinic program in Jacksonville has been approved as an accredited marrow and apheresis collection center in the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). In 2005, the NMDP certified the program to perform unrelated donor marrow/stem cell transplants for children and adults. The NMDP maintains the largest listing of volunteer donors and cord blood units in the world and matches patients with the best donor or cord blood unit.

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville is also approved for allogeneic and autologous transplants by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy.
