Dr. Anne-Marie G. Sykes is a radiologist who specializes in imaging of the chest. Her clinical focus includes:

  • Expertise in diagnosis and imaging of diseases of the chest
  • Involvement in the Mayo Clinic lung cancer screening program
  • Forensic radiology with virtual CT autopsy of the whole body
  • In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Sykes is active in research and education, providing mentorship to residents and fellows. She authors expert content, and both publishes in, and is an expert reviewer for, high-impact scientific journals.
  • Dr. Sykes works with physicians from other areas of medicine, including thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, oncologists and pathologists, participating in multidisciplinary tumor board and radiology-pathology conferences.

  • Lung cancer, including lung cancer screening, as well as other tumors involving the lung, pleura, and soft tissue structures of the chest, such as lymphoma, thymoma, mesothelioma
  • Pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung diseases, connective tissue diseases, and rare conditions of the chest
  • Smoking related diseases including emphysema and bronchitis
  • Evaluation of pulmonary nodules
  • Pulmonary thromboembolism and other vascular diseases of the chest
  • Infections such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, COVID-19
  • Abnormalities of the airways, including bronchiectasis, tracheobronchomalacia
  • Surgical, drug, ablation, and radiation effects
  • Pleural diseases, including pneumothorax, pleural effusion
  • Trauma
  • Lung and heart transplant
  • Congenital and developmental lung diseases such as cystic fibrosis
  • Virtual autopsy using computed tomography (CT)
  • Lung cancer, including lung cancer screening, as well as other tumors involving the lung, pleura, and soft tissue structures of the chest, such as lymphoma, thymoma, mesothelioma, and metastatic disease.
