Hasan A. Khamash, M.D., is a transplant nephrologist at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona.

His expertise in kidney paired donation helps patients with willing but incompatible living donors explore opportunities to receive a compatible kidney transplant.

His clinical and research interests include antibody-mediated rejection, desensitization, BK virus nephropathy, post-transplant diabetes and kidney transplant outcomes. These areas focus on preventing and managing complications that may affect the health and long-term function of a transplanted kidney.

Dr. Khamash completed transplant nephrology fellowship training at Mayo Clinic and nephrology fellowship training at Nassau University Medical Center, State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

In addition to patient care, research and education, Dr. Khamash contributes to institutional leadership and quality improvement. His roles have included service on Mayo Clinic Arizona personnel and transplant quality committees, supporting clinical practice, operations and high-quality transplant care.
