I'm Wyatt Decker, the CEO of Mayo Clinic in Arizona, and a vice president for Mayo Clinic. I trained in both internal medicine and emergency medicine. And I've always been drawn to medical mysteries.

And when you're in emergency medicine, you get the first crack at solving somebody's medical mysteries. One part of what I, and many of the physicians at Mayo Clinic, do is serve as a medical scientist. And in that regard, I've been able to continue to be involved with medical research and try to answer questions so that we can deliver better care to our patients over time.

And that's the wonderful thing about a career in medicine. You can help people and make a difference, alleviate suffering, but also bring this fantastic knowledge base that's always growing and changing through the scientific method. And to me, that was just a perfect blend of the service and the science.
