My name is Jan Buckner, I'm a Medical Oncologist at Mayo Clinic. My area of interest is in patients with brain tumors. It's really important to partner with a patient on the decision making. And it's important to understand what the patient's goals are before we even initiate the first therapy. Particularly in the case of brain tumors, we want to make sure that the treatment is not worse than the disease.

The most exciting aspect of my job, by far, is the opportunity to help patients live longer and better lives. The team at Mayo Clinic is incredibly strong. We have the best team of doctors that it's possible to find. Coupled with that is the opportunity to develop new therapies, so that we will have had a role and made a difference, not only for the patients of today, but for the patients of tomorrow, as well.
