Interpreter Services

interpreter speaking with patient

If you feel more comfortable speaking a language other than English, Mayo may be able to provide an interpreter. Mayo Clinic in Rochester has interpreters for about 25 languages. As soon as you know the date of your visit, please tell Mayo Registration personnel or your Mayo appointment secretary that you will need an interpreter. There is no charge for language services.

Services for People With Hearing Impairments

Sign language interpreters are available to Mayo patients. If you need this service, please indicate this on your registration form or tell the person scheduling the appointment that you need a sign language interpreter.

There are telephones in the clinic with volume controls for patients with hearing impairments. Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf (TDD) service is also available. Information Desk staff in the Mayo Building, first floor or subway level, can tell you where these telephones are located.
