If you and your physician decide that hospital treatment is necessary, you will be admitted to Mayo Clinic's hospital, located in the Mayo Building on the clinic campus. The 214-bed, state-of-the-art hospital opened in April 2008.
If you are too ill to be examined as an outpatient at the clinic, you may be admitted directly to the hospital. Such admissions are arranged by Mayo physicians, usually in consultation with your local doctor.
Advance directives are written instructions about your wishes for treatment if a medical condition renders you unable to make or communicate decisions.
