Near-infrared Raman spectroscopy collects light emanating from areas of Barrett's esophagus

Mayo Clinic researchers are investigating a new, minimally-invasive device called near-infrared Raman spectroscopy to see it can provide the same information about Barrett's esophagus that is normally obtained from biopsies. If so, it means treatment can be started immediately, rather than waiting a day or more for biopsy results.
