Bariatric Surgery

Treatment in Arizona

Mayo Clinic has been performing weight-reduction surgery in Arizona since 1993. Surgeons perform about 50 procedures annually. Medically supervised interventions include nutrition therapy, behavior modification, pharmacotherapy and weight-loss surgery, including laparoscopic adjustable band, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. Minimally invasive surgery is the procedure of choice at Mayo Clinic in Arizona.

Treatment Team

A team of specialists work together to develop treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.

For appointments or more information, call the Central Appointment Office toll free at 800-446-2279 (toll-free) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Mountain time Monday through Friday, or complete an online appointment request form.

Bariatric Surgery Support Group

Bariatric Surgery Support Group meetings are open forums for sharing information. Speakers are present at meetings throughout the year, such as the surgeon, endocrinologist, dietitian, physical therapist and exercise expert.

The group meets on the third Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Mayo Clinic Hospital (Room 1-212, near the hospital entrance).

Time: 9 a.m.-Noon
Dates: June 20, July- No Meeting, Aug. 15, Sept. 19, Oct. 17, Nov. 21, Dec. 19

Meetings are free and open to the public and attendees can come to all or part of the meetings. Family and friends are also welcome.

Bariatric Program Informational Sessions

Those interested in learning more about the Mayo Clinic Bariatric Program and the medical and surgical options can attend an informational session with physician and allied health members of the bariatric team. The interactive session includes discussion about Mayo's program, questions and answers regarding care and precertification and registration process details. Sessions are open to employees, friends and family.
