Balance Problems

Research

Mayo has developed collaborative research efforts with the biomechanical research program, physical, medical and rehabilitation, the traumatic brain injury group and internal medicine.

Mayo is participating in a research program to measure, monitor and assess vestibular and balance systems to help those with balance problems to prevent falls and injuries, especially the elderly. Mayo is also testing virtual reality (VR) equipment that employs moving visible targets. Patients are tested with VR as they move on a treadmill, in order to assess dizziness.
