Aortic stenosis is a condition in which the opening of one of your heart valves (aortic valve) becomes narrowed, which keeps the aortic valve from opening fully. This reduces blood flow from your heart to the main artery of your body (aorta). Your heart needs to work harder to push blood through the narrowed aortic valve, which causes your heart muscle to thicken.
