Advancing the science of health care delivery

Mayo Clinic is a worldwide leader in medical education:

  • Advancing the science of health care delivery to meet the changing needs of the 21st century.
  • Teaching people worldwide to manage their health.
  • Sharing medical expertise and research findings to meet needs throughout the world.
  • Providing a world-class medical education for the next generation of physicians and medical researchers.

In September 2011, Mayo Clinic announced the planned expansion of Mayo Medical School to Arizona. Students will earn an M.D. from Mayo Medical School and a master's degree in the Science of Health Care Delivery from Arizona State University. Mayo Medical School is believed to be the first medical school to offer such a program.

Mayo's reach extends far beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics. In 2011, the Mayo International Health Program helped Mayo residents and fellows pursue elective rotations, providing medical care in mentored settings to underserved international populations. Students provided valuable, free cost-effective medical care to more than 64,700 patients in 54 countries using limited resources.
