Anal Cancer

Treatment in Minnesota

Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is one of the largest colon and rectal surgery care centers in the United States, with eight surgeons on staff. Mayo Clinic's board-certified surgeons are national and international leaders in their field. This extraordinary volume produces outstanding outcomes for people with all types of cancer.

The opening of the Gonda Building in 2002 enabled Mayo Clinic to cluster services for people with cancer under one roof. As a result, people can see a gastroenterologist, a surgeon, a medical oncologist and a radiation oncologist, as well as undergo diagnostic procedures on the same floor on the same day. In many cases, surgery can be scheduled for the day after diagnosis.

Treatment Team

People with anal cancer are treated by specialists from Colon and Rectal Surgery, Gastroenterology, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Pathology and Medical Genetics. The large number of people seen at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota helps the staff maintain a high degree of skill in evaluating and treating cancer.
