Amyloidosis

Symptoms

Indications of amyloidosis can vary considerably and depend largely on the organs affected. The extreme range of symptoms and other physical manifestations can make amyloidosis difficult to diagnose; in some cases, no symptoms develop. Some common signs and symptoms include:

  • Swelling of the ankles and legs
  • Weight loss
  • Shortness of breath
  • Diarrhea
  • Severe fatigue
  • An enlarged tongue (macroglossia)
  • Skin changes
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Weakness
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet
