Medical Education

Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education

The oldest of Mayo's five schools has trained more than 17,000 alumni in virtually all medical specialties since 1915.

Mayo Graduate School

In operation since 1917, Mayo Graduate School focuses on six biomedical subspecialties. The school graduates approximately 50 Master's and Ph.D. students per year. The school also serves the educational needs of visiting predoctoral students and Summer Undergraduate Research students.

Mayo Medical School

Mayo Medical School has trained and graduated more than 1,000 students since 1972. The school enrolls 50 students per year, and it also trains visiting medical clerkship students and Summer Minority Medical Students.

Mayo School of Health Sciences

Mayo School of Health Sciences was established in 1973, and has increased its enrollment to more than 1,450 students annually. The school provides training in 45 allied health science programs, offering associate's, bachelor's, certificate, master's and Ph.D. level training, as well as clinical internships.

Mayo School of Continuing Professional Development

Mayo School of Continuing Professional Development formally became a school in 1996. It offers approximately 269 courses and 7,466 hours of continuing medical education each year.

Conflict of Interest

Mayo Clinic and its staff often collaborate with industry to improve patient care through research agreements, invention licenses and consulting activities. The Mayo Clinic Conflict of Interest Review Board oversees all such activities. Mayo Clinic and its staff members do not receive any royalties for inventions or technology developed at Mayo and subsequently prescribed for Mayo Clinic patients.
