Young Volunteer Summer Program
Through the Young Volunteer Summer Program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona, high school students between the ages of 15 and 18 have opportunities to volunteer in both clinic (outpatient) and hospital settings. The program runs two months, June through July.
Benefits of participating in the Young Volunteer Summer Program include:
- Having an opportunity to do worthwhile work that makes a difference in people's lives
- Exploring possible health care career opportunities
- Attending educational presentations
- Meeting people and making new friends
Program participants are assigned a weekly four-hour shift. Additional shifts may be added as space allows and at the discretion of the volunteer coordinator, though young volunteers may not serve more than 12 hours a week. Volunteers may request a letter of reference after completing 100 hours of service.
